Weekly blog post

Weekly blog post for week of May 3rd, 2013

Pierce The Veil in Atlanta, Georgia. April 18th, 2013
Lately I've been trying to decide what i want to do when i get out of high school. One of the things i love most in life is music (obviously) but another thing i love is photography. So I'm thinking maybe i could be a music photographer like Adam Elmakias (He's my favorite photographer). He has photographed many of my favorite bands and is currently on tour with two of my favorite bands right now on the Spring Fever Tour. His photographs are the best I've ever seen. Their so clear and just simply stunning. He uses a Canon EOS 5D Mark III. I was curious about it so I looked up how much it cost and it's about $4,000... So I guess i can take that off the Christmas list.. lol. But anyway he's seriously awesome and i would love to be able to do what he does; tour around the world was amazing bands and take stunning pictures of them. (: I have no idea how much he makes but his photos have been shown in a lot of magazines such as Alternative Press and RockSound. So yeah i think this is a paragraph. yay.

My Weekend! (:

Weekly blogpost for week of March 22nd, 2013~

My weekend was great, On Friday I spent time with my family. On Saturday i worked all day from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm at my mom's office. (i better have a good paycheck this week!! ) My mom has her own company called Goin' Coastal. From my mom's website: "Goin' Coastal services start with one phone call or email. Housekeeping, light maintenance, concierge, and key holder services just for starters. Our main goal is to help owners and rental managers care-take their properties." All i really do at her office though is laundry and help organize it on the shelves.

Kellin Quinn and I at the meet & greet!
So happy i was able to meet one of my idols!
On Sunday my friend Harley and I went to a concert in Pensacola. It was so much fun! The band was Sleeping With Sirens. We met a few really cool people and also got to meet the band. It was awesome. Before the actual concert they played a few acoustic songs including their cover of 'Iris' by The Goo Goo Dolls. The video is below:

My Music Taste; The Evolution of

pyramid; Memphis, TN
For my (6th) blog post I've decided write about how my music taste has evolved over the years. In my early childhood i grew up on country artists such as George Strait, Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, & Garth Brooks. Kenny Chesney being my mom and I's favorite. In fact the first concert i ever went to was a Kenny Chesney concert at the Pyramid in Memphis, Tennessee. (:

Later on after my family and i moved down south to Gulf Shores, i became obsessed with the band Green Day. It was the year that their album 'American Idiot'came out so i would listen to them non-stop. haha, i think i was 7 or 8.. which i find pretty funny now. It's not everyday you see an eight year old girl jamming out to 'Jesus Of Suburbia'while playing with her doll house.

Then, when i was in 4th and fifth grade i started listening to Fall Out Boy, Paramore, and Panic! At The Disco. They're all actually still some of my most favorite bands. I became a fan of Fall Out Boy when their song 'Sugar  We're Goin Down' became popular and I've been a fan ever since. I also became a fan of Paramore when their song 'Misery Business' got popular and asked my parents to buy me their album 'RIOT!' days later. (: The same with Panic! At The Disco their song "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" made me fan. In November of 2007 i saw Fall Out Boy (my favorite band at the time) with two of my friends at the amphitheater at the wharf. It was an amazing concert and i will (hopefully) never forget it

All Time Low
Now that i'm a teenager my music taste has evolved even more so.. i began listening to even more alternative bands. Like The Beatles, Blink-182, My Chemical Romance, New Found Glory, Less Than Jake, All Time Low, Mayday Parade, We The Kings, The Maine, Hey Monday, The Ready Set, fun. , The Summer Set, The Wonder Years, Jack's Mannequin, The Story So Far, Transit, Man Overboard, and We Are The In Crowd.  Also heavier bands such as Pierce The Veil, A Day To Remember, Sleeping With Sirens, Falling In Reverse, and older Escape The Fate.

So, this has been a trip through the evolution of my music taste! (:

All Time Low; The History of

All Time Low are my most favorite band ever so i decided to make this (5th) blog post all about them. (:

The band is composed of vocalist/ guitarist Alex Gaskarth, guitarist Jack Barakat, bassist Zack Merrick and drummer Rian Dawson, the Maryland based pop-punk band have gone from playing in a basement at Rian’s parents house to releasing three highly successful full lengths, a live DVD, headlining world tours, being named Alternative Press Magazine’s “Band Of The Year” and Kerrang! Magazine’s “Best Live Band” in 2011. All Time Low released their Hopeless Records debut EP “Put Up or Shut Up” in the summer of 2006 just weeks after the bands graduation from high school. Since then they have had 2 records debut in the Billboard Top 5 and had a single reach 500k downloads, certifying it gold by the RIAA. The band formed in 2003 while all 4 members were still in high school. The band's name is taken from lyrics in the song "Head on Collision" by New Found Glory.  All Time Low's 10 year anniversary is on March 17th!!

Warped Tour; All About

Today I'm writing about the Vans Warped Tour!! It's been a dream of mine to attend Warped Tour since i was about 11 years old now. Maybe my parents will let me go this year since i will be turning 17 in April. lol.. Anyway.. Kevin Lyman created the Warped Tour in 1994. He got the idea while working skate shows that combined skateboarding with music. Lyman got the name from a magazine that covered sports like skateboarding and surfing, as well as music. 1998 was the first year that the tour took place in countries other than the U.S.--there were shows in Australia, Japan, Europe and Canada.

The Warped Tour features performances by musicians as well as athletes. The musical groups that perform at the Warped Tour vary in genre. There are performers who are emo, alternative rock, post-hardcore, metalcore, Christian rock and electronica. The athletic performances include skateboarding and BMX cycling. There is also several tents set up at the venue that sell a wide range of goods like t-shirts, shoes, CDs and pins.

In the tour's early years, there was much less focus on selling goods and the musical groups that performed were considered to be original punk bands. As the years have gone by, more commercialism has crept into the tour, from the tents selling merchandise to the performers themselves. It is because of this commercialism that many criticize the Warped Tour, claiming that it isn't about good music anymore. Similar claims have been made by bands that have left the tour over the years.
The 'perceived' changes in The Warped Tour over the years, namely the changes to the types of performers included in the tour, has lead to some bands leaving the tour and others being banned from the tour. Guttermouth was allegedly removed from the tour after insulting another band on the tour and CKY was kicked off of the tour in 2000 after complaining about vendor prices.
Many musical groups have performed at the Warped Tour over the years, including but not limited to Blink-182, My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, All-American Rejects, Paramore, Bedouin Soundclash, MxPx, The Starting Line, Matchbook Romance, Gogol Bordello, Motion City Soundtrack, Millencolin, Avenged Sevenfold, The Casualties, Anti-Flag, Rise Against, Less Than Jake, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts and Helmet. While the tour started as a showcase for punk rock and ska music, it has grown to include many more genres over the years. (:
